IntroductionAll cars are welcome to participate in the CAR and DRIVER Race Series provided they meet the minimum specifications as described in the rulebook. If you do not see your car listed, or if you have any questions about car classing, click here to send us a message. The CAR and DRIVER Race Series uses a unique, points-based classing structure to ensure that your car is racing against cars of equal ability while also giving you the freedom to modify your car as you see fit. Each performance modification is assigned a points value and each classing level has a limit on the amount of points you may use. To find out in which class you will be racing, use the modification worksheet, which is part of the registration process, to determine how many points your car has and to determine your class. Classes are broken up into two main categories. The Sport category is for two-seat cars and for cars that are developed from two-seater cars that have shelve seats in the back. These cars are often referred to as 2+2 seats. The Touring category is for true four-seat cars as well as any car in which the rear seats were omitted to allow for a convertible top. Level 1 classes (Sport 1-3 and Touring 1-4) only allow non-performance modifications. Some wheel allowances have been made so that similar tire options may be available to all cars. Other than these allowed modifications, cars are only allowed to compete in their stock form. Some cars have been disallowed from Level 1 classes due to their increased performance. Level 2 classes (Grand Sport 1-3 and Grand Touring 1-4) allow drivers to pick and choose the modifications that suit them best. Cars classed in Level 1 classes may use up to 550 modification points while those disallowed from Level 1 classes are limited to 450 points. Any of the points modifications listed on the modification worksheet are allowed in Level 2 classes provided the Open Modification points limit is not exceeded for the modification category. Some cars are disallowed from Level 2 classes due to their inherently increased performance. Level 3 classes (Modified Sport 1-2 and Modified Touring 1-2) are open to all cars. Cars classed in Level 1 and Level 2 classes may use up to 1500 points while those cars originally classed in Level 3 classes are restricted to 600 points. Level 3 classes also allow drivers to utilize Open Modification points, which means that any and all modifications within a single category may be made for a flat point value. Level 4 classes (Open Sport, Open Touring 1-2) are the unlimited outlaw cars of the CAR and DRIVER Race Series. These classes are open to all cars and have no restrictions on modification points.
