BMW wraps up Barcelona test

The BMW Sauber F1 team wrapped up a private, three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona. Both Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve were in action today in warm and sunny conditions - air temperature reached eighteen degrees Centigrade.
The team ran a race simulation programme with both drivers and between them the pair collected over 950km of data in one day. A Grand Prix distance is just over 300km. The BMW team moves to Imola for its next test starting 22 February.
Low mileage for new Ferrari in Bahrain

Thursday was the fourth day of testing this week for Ferrari, working once again at the Sakhir circuit, in Bahrain. Today's schedule was centred on tyre testing and set-up work for both drivers.
Felipe Massa, at the wheel of an F2004, fitted with a regulated power version of the V10 engine completed 90 laps, the quickest in 1m30.578s. Driving a 248 F1, Michael Schumacher had problems in the morning and did most of his running only in the last couple of hours of the day, completing a total of 23 laps, the quickest in 1m32.909.
Testing continues at this circuit tomorrow, with Michael Schumacher on track.
Valencia Day 3: Kovalainen leads Montoya

Renault test driver Heikki Kovalainen set the pace on the third day of testing at Valencia in southern Spain, his best lap of 1m10.618s just 0.039s ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya's McLaren. Kovalainen was also the busiest man on track today completing over 140 laps.
Toro Rosso driver swapping at Sahkir

For the final day of the team's planned test session, Scuderia Toro Rosso fielded both its race drivers, Tonio Liuzzi and Scott Speed, who shared the same car. The Italian was first up in the cockpit this morning and the programme involved a race weekend simulation.
Ecclestone: Midland underestimates F1

Bernie Ecclestone regrets he tipped Alex Shnaider to buy Jordan Grand Prix. The Russian investor bought Jordan Grand Prix last year and named it Midland. According to Ecclestone Shnaider underestimated how hard it can be to run a Formula 1 team.
Massa not worried about Ferrari's pace yet

Ferrari driver Felipe Massa thinks Ferrari need to improve their pace before the start of the season when they want to race for the win at the season opener in Bahrain. The Brazilian is confident though the new developments on the car will help them.
Jani gets first taste of Toro Rosso

Neel Jani got his first taste of the Scuderia Toro Rosso car he will pilot on Friday tests at Grand Prix yesterday in Bahrain. The Swiss driver, who has guided A1 Team Switzerland to second place in the A1 Grand Prix series this winter got 76 laps behind the STR-01 wheel on Wednesday.

Mosley comes up with radical engine plan

It is no secret that Max Mosley, FIA President, is a big fan of shaken up the rules in Formula One. This time he came up with a radical new engine plan. Although this year we'll see V8 engines for the first time, Mosley now came up with the idea to allow every sort of engine in F1, but give teams a maximum amount of fuel to use per race.
Albers takes over testing duties in Valencia

On Wednesday Christijan Albers took over testing duties in Valencia from his team mate Tiago Monteiro. Both Albers and Monteiro are setting equal times, showing both drivers are trying to get the maximum out of the car while trying to improve it in preparation for the season opener in Bahrain.
Kovalainen covering the miles

On Wednesday Renault's 2011 third and reserve driver Heikki Kovalainen joined the other F1 drivers in Valencia. The Fin will have a busy season with Renault ahead as he will most likely cover most of the miles for the team.

Exact Software to make F1 return?

Former F1-Sponsor Exact Software could soon return to Formula One. The company appeared on the MF1 Racing cars in Valencia and F1Racing.net learned the brand is doing a test with Midland to see if a Formula One return can fit their brand strategy.

According to Pedro de la Rosa things calmed down at McLaren. The V8 engine problems seem to be solved in the latest version of the Mercedes engine. The Spaniard isn't sure yet though whether McLaren can win the race in Bahrain. But about McLaren's championship chances he is very positive.
Liuzzi: STR is stronger than Minardi

Scuderia Toro Rosso racing driver Vitantonio Liuzzi said he believes his team is stronger than Minardi in their first season under new ownership. Red Bull bought Minardi at the end of last year and renamed it Toro Rosso, but also gave the team a bigger budget.

CAR and DRIVER RACE SERIES to be featured on Spike TV network

CAR and DRIVER TV has announced that the CAR and DRIVER RACE SERIES powered by the Precision Racing Organization will be featured in a 30-minute program on the Spike TV network. The program will be filmed on June 11th and 12th at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All competitors attending the inaugural event of the series will have a chance to be caught on film and seen on national television. The program is set to air July 2nd and 3rd on CAR and DRIVER TV.
